Twitter – Micro blogging tool/service.
A revolution of blogging techniques/methods.
Best way to stay in touch with your near and dear ones, a free social messaging utility for staying connected in real-time.
Blah blah bLah blAh blaH….
Is micro blogging really required or it is just a fad, which will soon be gone with time…?? Why restrict ones message/post to 140 characters when one can write more. I mean when one has the time and space to express oneself completely and clearly, why not use it instead of writing/posting a short and incomplete message which is ambiguous to the readers most of the time. And I am very sure that at this point of time there will be a lot of people struggling fit in their message into 140 characters – a useless effort. Micro blogging might sound cool and happening, but I feel that it can never compete or rather can even come close to the traditional method of blogging.
Of course it can be viewed as a great medium to be in touch with you friends, But then again I do not find it as good as Myspace, Orkut, Facebook, etc…, for the purpose of staying connected. For that purpose it is very plane and textual, and I also have a problem with the interface, not appealing unlike others.
Now matter what people think about it, Twitter has done its magic and is growing at an unbelievable rate!! Whatever it is one thing I know is that it has got the monkies stuck to the computer!!

Dude – u r looking things in a narrow way. It depends on how u r using the tool
Blogging takes a significant time and thats why the need of microblogging
twitter is where conversations are happening and brands cant ignore that
140 char limit is quite good to express u r self..u were not supposed to write history there
Dont u find twitter very easy to connect with people, than orkut and moreover u will get updates frm u r frnds in a non intrusive way.
and finally twitter is not a platform for blogging, so u r 3/10 ranking is not valid
twitter, orkut, blogs what ever shit are invented to help connect people and all stressful tools succeed in connecting people

gosh! how u treat the twitters as a buncha monkeys! he he..i dun take an extreme stance on micro blogging. as they say, there are pros n cons for everything. on one hand it might restrict what you want to expresss but it doesn hamper your creativity.on the other hand it helps you to learn the funda of brevity and clarity. it tests you how best you can express yourself in the given limits! man..y am i just commenting..its high time i start a blog too!
cheers!

I knew that this was coming…

and that is what happens on twitter. I feel no friend would like to get updated on stuff like:
@ Praneeth: I never said that i hate Twitter, its just that i do not like it either. It is a fact that it has grown big and popular, and it cannot be ignored. Its all about liking which is again very subjective. Just 1% of global literate population can make anything famous. Even Tushar Kapur has got fan following!
The concept is great, but it is falling in between twitter being a blogging or microblogging tool and it being a medium to stay connected. I would rather prefer it as a medium to stay connected.
And moreover I feel staying connected does not mean that one keeps posting what he/she is doing every minute. Boss that is torture.
– I don’t feel like brushing my teeth today.
– I had a coke and I want to have one more.
– I just got up with my pants wet!
– I just washed my *ss! and I need a hair dryer to dry it.
At one place you have said, “Blogging takes a significant time and thats why the need of microblogging” and at the other place you have also mentioned, “and finally twitter is not a platform for blogging” little confusing!
It would be even difficult for the Great Poets to express their thoughts in 140 characters. And I guess twitter is not a platform to learn poetry alteast!
In the end i would only say that it is all subjective – one mans pride is other man plight.

When you dont want to get that rubbish, juss dont follow such users. U should know why n how u useing it(get intresting links, connect with frnds, n/w with ppl etc).
Diff between blogging n microblogging –
blog is a website, usually maintained by an individual or group of individuals, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material
Micro-blogging is a form of blogging that allows users to write brief text updates (usually less than 200 characters) and publish them, either to be viewed by anyone or by a restricted group which can be chosen by the user.
Twitter is a place to tell what r u doing not a place to express u r thoughts. blogs r places where u should express u r thoughts
So the main diff – is in length of posts, number of users maintaining it,hope that it cleared

@ Praneeth: First of all, thanks for your comments, looks like you are a huge Twitter fan, and the way you are punching me blue and black it also looks like you want twitter to be liked by others as well
Secondly, brother i have been always mentioning that its all about liking. You like microblogging and I like blogging, you also like twitter as a social networking platform whereas I prefer other SNS(s) to twitter. Its my choice. I do not disrespect twitter, its a great concept, its just that I do not find it appealing. Everything has got its own pros and cons, Probably i am only looking at the cons of using twitter, but whats wrong if i criticize something i do not like! Twitter will be twitter no matter what you and I say.
Thirdly, bro do not take it personal.

Riz

@sid
dude argue about a valid point, not juss talking in air.
Twitter has evolved from status updates into public conversation with colleagues, companies, and your target audience.
Twitter is the public square. Lots of noise, little signal. But for you to get that little signal you need to use it properly.
u use Linkedin to n/w with people, thats exactly u can do it in twitter, infact in a much better way
