Did you know that not only google.com but also googlr.com and googlw.com take you to google’s landing page!!!
I came to know about this when by mistake I entered googlr.com in the web address bar instead of google.com, and before I could correct myself, I was on google’s landing page. It was a little surprising, then I re-checked myself by again writing googlr.com and got the same result. This made me think…. seriously… I did…. 
then I typed googlw.com and even that took me to googl’s landing page!
But why???
May be because the keys “w” and “r” are on the right and left side of the key “e” which is the last character in “google”, and I guess a lot of people like me due to a typo end up writing googlr or googlw insterd of google. May be google realised this and it also bought over the domain names “googlr.com” and “googlw.com” Smart!!!

Hi riz,
thought of adding thing to ur post,
try the urls like foofle and many such urls direct u to goole.com
not only that, when a user types hootmail.com the user is been directed to hotmail.com
I personally feel that this is done to safeguard the brand value of the domain.
if this would not be done, there is possibility that yahoo or msn search would by these domains and then direct them to their website or a person would run a adult websites on such domains which would certainly spoil the brand value.
