Exchange4media.com a very well known source for being updated on Media Industry, apart from Agencyfaqs.com, is filled with ads on the home page so much, that the content is hardly visible on the first scroll. For those who have still not been to this place yet, just have a look at it below.
And that is not enough ads have their presence even on the 2nd scroll…!! Here atleast some content can be seen. This for the feel good factor. Only to let you know that you come to the right place, so that you don’t bang your head into the monitor or rip your hair, …the ones on the head to be precise.
The content is hidden between these ads, and thank GOD it is not that difficult to find the content on e4m. Not doubt e4m has got some real good content and it attracts the right media audience. Probably, no matter what people will still come and read the news with all the difficulties, but does that mean that e4m can fill the complete site with ads, ads and ads..?? It also makes it difficult to read the stuff on e4m with all the ads flashing around. I feel e4m team should seriously look into this issue and try to make e4m a better reading experience by changing the its site design. They should increase the visibly of content on the home page, at least on the first scroll. By making the necessary changes, I feel that e4m would earn much more respect from its loyal readers.
Advertisers also cannot help themselves but show their ads on e4m as they have very few options available when it comes to media vertical. They can hardly think of any other name apart from e4m and afaqs when it comes to targeting media people. Advertisers by any means want to show their ads to get attention. This is a very old way of thinking. But i doubt if it is as effective as it is thought to be by the advertisers. My colleague Praneeth also shares the same views.
When it comes to good media content along with less ad terror, i believe that afaqs is much much better compared to e4m. I prefer afaqs to e4m for the same reason. For those who have not even been to afaqs.com, this is how it look.

Whatever it is, e4m is making money and that is what matters end of the day. But is it ethical….?? Please do comment.
